The Yeerongpilly Transport Oriented Development (TOD) is being delivered in partnership by the Queensland State Government and Brisbane City Council. The Yeerongpilly site is currently home to the Animal Research Institute, which will vacate the site over the next year to move to new state-of-the-art premises. The site is next to the Yeerongpilly train station and is within walking distance of the state tennis centre, the Brisbane River and the Tennyson Reach development.

The State Government has approved the Masterplan and SPRP for the Yeerongpilly TOD, also known as Yeerongpilly Green. The new plan came into effect from 8 May, 2017.
No changes were made to the substance of the masterplan. Our submissions as a community have been roundly dismissed. You can read my submission above.
The State has released a consultation report, which you can read here. All issues related to traffic, parking, community facilities and flooding have been completely ignored or, ridiculously, the State Government has washed its hands of doing anything and says they are Council issues to deal with. A shocking hospital pass.
This is the worst planning exercise I have ever seen, as the project does not consider the impacts of building a development the size of a new suburb on the surrounding community.
All future development on the site will be either Self-Assessable or Code Assessable, so our community has no formal objection or appeal rights on any future buildings in the masterplan.
The State Government has directed Council to incorporate the SPRP into City Plan 2014. I have urged Council not to do this and be assured I will be voting against the plan when it comes to Council in about two weeks.
December 2016
The Developer has submitted a revised DA to Council for the Yeerongpilly Green, next to the Tennis Centre . It is truly appalling that they have put the plans out for consultation over the Christmas/New Year period.
There are several major changes but basically development on the site is now bigger, the heritage buildings are being adversely impacted and we are losing the green space and community-use buildings we fought so hard for during consultation.
Of course there’s also not a single road improvements to Fairfield Rd and the surrounding streets that will have to manage the influx of commercial, retail and residential traffic THE SIZE OF A WHOLE NEW SUBURB.
The changes must be approved at two levels – via the State Government’s planning system which requires public notificaiton.
Any member of the public can make a submission during the notification period between 2 December 2016 and 27 February 2017.

Secondly, as the application is Code Assessable under Council’s City Plan 2014, no public notification is required.
