Annerley Park Upgrade

I am seeking your feedback to design a new playground in Annerley.  This year, I have budgeted $120,000 from the Local Parks Trust Funds for the Vallely and Lagonda Street Park upgrades. The upgrade will include two components;

1. Lighting – upgraded lights through Lagonda Park and new lights through Vallely St Park to improve safety for pedestrians. Cost approx. $45,000 and

2. Playground – new playground on existing Lagonda St playground site. Cost approx. $120,000.

While this sounds like a lot of money, electrical and earthworks are very expensive and work will be undertaken over two financial years (across 2018) with additional funding provided in July to complete the playground in two stages.

As part of the playground upgrade, the play area will require major earthworks to meet disability standards, which are estimated to cost approx $33,000. A new, more direct, footpath to the bridge will also be constructed for pedestrians.

I have posted some concept playgrounds below and you are welcome to email my office tennyson.ward@bcc.qld.gov.au with your support for one of the playgrounds or particular types of equipment. Please provide your feedback by close of business 23 February, 2018.

I will also be holding two meetings at the Lagonda St playground to discuss the design plans in person. Please drop by in person with your suggestions on Saturday, 17 February 9.30am – 10.30am or Wednesday, 21 February 5pm – 6pm.

I welcome your ideas and suggestions to help create a vibrant new playspace for local families.
