On 14 June, the Council Budget was announced and whilst it included some projects for Tennyson Ward, many essential infrastructure upgrades were not funded. It’s my role as your local Councillor to push for these projects to be funded and I am the only Councillor who moves amendments to the Budget, for infrastructure, to try and ensure the critical projects our area needs are actually delivered.
Noted below are the series of amendments that I put forward to fund just some of the critical projects awaiting capital works funding. The Lord Mayor and his team voted against ALL of the amendments. They voted against them last year and the year before as well. Other opposition Councillors voted for my motions or abstained. You can read the amendments below, along with my Budget submission and a map showing the key infrastructure priorities for the Ward.
The map below is a summary of some of the key projects awaiting funding on Council’s capital works list. Some are also projects that our community is seeking, like a City Cat extension, that Council will not support at all. This will require a change in Council leadership if City Cats upstream are to be considered. Imagine what an Olympic Legacy it would be to improve public transport for the western suburbs and have City Cats bring people to a major Olympic venue at Tennyson.
