Last week Councillor Steve Griffiths and I had the privilege of presenting the 2023 Local Heroes Awards at the Oxley Community Festival celebrations. Congratulations to the following Local Heroes were recognised for their tireless work within the Tennyson Ward community during the 2022 Floods:
Bec Baker, Fairfield Brisbane Community Group Lou Bromley, Oxley Sally Dodds, Pamphlett-Tennyson Sea Scouts Kyl Reber, Corinda Michaela Smerdon, Corinda Tim Swifte, Moorooka Lions Daniel Tabikh, Oxley Vivian Ting, Oxley Seamus Tovey, Oxley Pastor Rohan Pieris and the congregation of the Graceville Presbyterian ChurchThis year’s Local Heroes led by example in the face of a devastating natural disaster and came from a variety of fields including small businesses, community volunteers, service organisations, churches and online, particularly via Facebook.
