February, 2016

Commencing mid-march, Graceville Station will undergo an accessibility upgrade as part of Queensland Rail’s upgrade program. As a result there will be some construction impacts. While the station will remain open for regular services, some platform and station access changes will occur during a mix of both day and night time works. However, commuters will be given advice notification of construction activities likely to cause impacts.

The works address the station’s accessibility issues while respecting  its protected heritage and include the following upgrades:

  • four new lifts providing access from street level and between all platforms
  • new subway drainage to alleviate flooding
  • raised platform sections to provide assisted boarding points
  • extended platform shelters and a new shelter on platforms 3 and 4
  • a new accessible toilet including baby change facilities
  • upgraded CCTV and station lighting
  • new wayfinding and platform signage

While there may be some impacts caused by the works, this is a much needed and worthwhile upgrade, so your patience is appreciated during this time. Works are due to be completed by late 2016.
