September 2017

Work is complete and the basketball court is now open at Graceville Memorial Park.

The upgrade included:

  • old surface cleaned and diamond ground;
  • cracks filled with a seal and flex filler;
  • fibre glass scrim tape applied to the entire court;
  • two coats of an acrylic sports surface; and
  • line markings refreshed.

The new court looks great and I can’t wait to see families and children enjoying the new area.

May 2017

Work is well underway on the $120,000 Graceville Memorial Park Playground replacement project.

So far, all preparation works have been completed, including the installation of root barriers and the removal of the playground and three trees near the basketball court.

The next stage, scheduled to begin on Monday (weather permitting), will see the installation of the playground, which includes the following equipment:

  • urban play fort with equipment for small and older children;
  • swings to include a baby seat, normal seat and basket seat;
  • supernova blue spin wheel and springer toy;
  • netball half court markings to be added to the basketball court (and existing basketball lines refreshed)

Council is currently waiting on the manufacture of the shade sail posts, which has caused a minor delay. However, the playground is on track to being completed by mid-end of June, weather permitting).

Thank you to everyone who gave feedback and helped get such a great outcome.

April 2017

Plans are finalised and construction is about to begin on the $100,000 Graceville Memorial Park Playground replacement project.

Council have agreed to retain as much of the existing playground footprint as possible and extend away from the fig trees, which requires removing three smaller, non-significant trees at the basketball court end. This will retain playground shade from the fig and keep it away from the road, within sight of the Clubhouse and near the other children’s facilities.

The playground itself will contain the following equipment:

-urban play fort with equipment for small and older children;

-swings to include a baby seat, normal seat and basket seat;

-supernova blue spin wheel and springer toy;

-shade sail;

-root barriers; and

-netball half court markings to be added to the basketball court (and existing basketball lines refreshed)Stage Two will include additional play equipment, possibly a flying fox or climbing apparatus, as requested by children who participated during consultation. Thank you to everyone who gave feedback and helped get such a great outcome.
