A big thank you to the 900 residents that recently signed the petition to extend the 196 Buz route to Yeronga. The petition went to Council last week, where the Lord Mayor and his ‘team’ voted against my motion to ensure any additional services, following the commencement of the Brisbane Metro, are included the 196 extension. They did not even speak to the amendment I put forward, just voted against it.

Later in the debate, Deputy Mayor, Krista Adams, claimed that Yeronga will be an “absolute winner” from the Brisbane Metro project even though the closest stop is up at Dutton Park/PA about a 4km walk uphill. Coupled with her refusal to specifically commit extra bus services to Yeronga, it’s not looking good. I will not give up. The fight for better bus services for Yeronga has been an ongoing battle for many years and, with your help, will continue. You can read the Council report and my speech, including the amendment I put forward, below.
