Work is now underway on the footpath upgrade at the Sherwood Arboretum. New footpaths are very welcome in this very popular recreational green space. New turf, sub-surface drainage and some shade trees along the paths are also part of the project. The footpaths do look to be a bit away from the desired lines to the playground and do reduce the open space but Council did not undertake any consultation with the community or me about the design and some tweaks may have made this an even better project. I do hope they will make it easier for people to enjoy the amazing green space at the Arboretum. A new nature play area is on the way this year to replace the boardwalk play areas under the fig.
