Corinda Library | Meet Duncan Richardson

October 22, 2019 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

On the morning of January 28th 1919, a trainload of Queenslanders pulled into Tenterfield, to be told they could travel no further. The border was closed because of the flu outbreak in Sydney and they were quarantined for at least a week. Squashed into every available billet in town, they waiting while more trains arrived from the South, extending the quarantined period indefinitely. How they and the locals coped while governments dithered and bickered makes a fascinating and often amusing story.

Join Duncan as he discusses his latest book Captives of the Spanish Lady: 700 Queensland in Quarantine – Tenterfield 1919.

Books will be available for purchase on the day, or bring your copy from home for Duncan to sign. To reserve your place, visit Eventbrite, or phone the library.
