Works are underway on the Sherwood Arboretum innovative nature play area under the big fig at the to replace the existing flying fox and play equipment that has seen better days. Work includes new pathways, new decking, new play furniture and new botanical themed play pods with sensory and interactive features for all abilities. A big thank you to the Sherwood State School children who participated in the design process.
The new nature play area is part of a series of recreational and environmental upgrades at the Sherwood Arboretum in the lead up to it’s centenary in March 2025. Several projects have already been delivered, including more than 100 bird/wildlife nesting boxes, seven turtle nesting habitats, major native tree plantings days, new footpaths and signage.
